Basic steps
What to do
Start by following these basic troubleshooting steps. If these steps do not resolve your problem, please proceed to the FAQ for further assistance and guidance.
- Restart your computer
- Start GTA V into singleplayer atleast once
- You must have a clean version of GTA V. Graphical mods (Reshade, ENB, NVE, ...) are not supported
- Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable has to be installed
- Try running alt:V as administrator
- If the launcher is stuck on "Loading alt:V Client", restart Steam or Epic Games Launcher if applicable
- Ensure alt:V is installed to a directory which is not your desktop, the GTA V directory and that the path doesn't includes any special characters
- Add an exception for alt:V to your antivirus software (including Windows Defender)
- Try using a different DNS server, for example Cloudflare DNS or Google DNS
- Update the drivers for your graphics card
- If your game is crashing when joining a server try a different one
